8. Make The Best Of Your Eye Shape

As important as your color choices are, the placement of your shadows and liners is just as critical; you can create just about any illusion that you want. With careful placement, you can make your eyes appear wider, closer set, more prominent, deeper set, etc. Determine what shape of eyes you have, and then accentuate them accordingly.

DOESN’T COMPARE TO PREMIUM BRANDS FOR PRICE

By Vic

from PA

Comments about mark. Eye Daydream of Glam:

For a price point that compares to premium brands, this product was underwhelming. Beautiful packaging/product — I could look at it all day. However, when applying the product, the color was weak and did not stand out.

BOUGHT AS A GIFT, RECIPIENT WAS FLOORED!

By Avon Loyal

from Eastern CT

Comments about mark. Eye Daydream of Glam:

Gave this to my hair stylist for the holidays. She was impressed at the size and was FLOORED when she opened the case. I’ve used mark I-marks shadows for years (until they were discontinued, waaah) so I know the quality of mark makeup. The only negative is the applicator that comes with it – seriously?? Weeny wimpy little thing…get a set of mark brushes and you’re good to go!

GREAT PALETTE WITH BOTH FUN & PRACTICAL COLORS

By happiestgirl

from Michigan

PROS

  • Buildable
  • Generous Pans
  • Silky Texture
  • Vibrant Pigments

BEST USES

  • Everyday Color
  • Glam Color
  • Night Time Color

Comments about mark. Eye Daydream of Glam:

This palette seemed pricey, but I saw the review that said the pans were large and she was not kidding. This is a great value because the pans are bigger than in any other palette I own. The eye shadow has a silky and build-able feel to it and a really good range of colors. The packaging is also nice. I love that you can look at the color without opening it. I have other palettes that I have to open to refresh my memory when I’m trying to select a look. My only complaint is that I struggle a little every time I open it. But I guess that’s better than having it fall open when you don’t want it to.

GREAT EYESHADOW PALETTE

By Captain Bowie

from Glen Allen, VA

PROS

  • Eye shadows are huge
  • It’s a whopper of a palette

CONS

  • Comes with dual ended sponge tip applicator
  • Does not come with eye shadow brush
  • Itty-bitty mirror

Comments about mark. Eye Daydream of Glam:

I was a little hesitant about buying this palette because of its price and I’ve never known Avon to price a palette at a much higher price point than usual. But I’ve never had any issues with their pressed eye shadows and figured why not give it a chance. I was blown away at its size. Each eye shadow pan is the size of a half dollar coin. They are beautifully pigmented when worn dry and are incredibly pigmented when worn wet. Blending was not an issue and with good eye shadow primer, they lasted well over 12 hours on my lids. It’s beautifully boxed and the palette case is strong and sturdy. Now I wish I had purchased the other Eye Dream of Glam palette that was released prior. This palette definitely gives the high end brands a run for their money. Great job Avon…..you definitely outdid yourself on this one. I look forward to the next palette from this series.

3.How To Fix Clumpy Mascara

Let’s face it, this happens to every tube of mascara over time. The problem is it dries out and then starts to form unattractive lumps. To help prevent this, don’t pump your mascara trying to get more on your wand; you’re basically pumping air into the tube causing it to dry out even faster.#6. How to make mascara last 3 times longer! 32 Makeup Tips That Nobody Told You About

Although mascara should be replaced every 3 to 4 months, I used to replace mine much sooner just because it dries out so fast and creates undesirable results. But, there’s an easy fix for that! Add a drop or two of Visine (or any brand of eye drops) into the tube, and then rub the wand around inside. The Visine softens the mascara liquid, making it apply as if it were a brand new tube!

Avon Beauty Tips

Q: How can I get a smoother mascara application?
A:There are two reasons why your mascara may be clumping.
The first is application. If you load the brush with too much product, it builds up on the lashes and inevitably causes clumping. To avoid mascara overload, wrap a tissue around the brush and gently squeeze off any excess. You’ll notice a smoother, more even application every time.
Excessive clumping is also a sign that it’s time to replace your mascara.

A tip for when you open your new tube: don’t pump the wand in

and out. Every time you pump, you’re introducing air into the tube, which dries out the p

roduct and results in clumping. Instead, swirl the wand in the tube and pull it out.
This technique evenly distributes the product around the brush applicator and helps to keep the product fresher-and clump-free-longer.

Q: I have really chapped lips. How can I treat them?
A: Dry, flaky lips are almost inevitable during the winter months. Not only are they exposed to the elements (wind, cold air, etc.), but the indoor heat is equally as dehydrating.
The most obvious thing to do for chapped lips is to moisturize. But it’s important to know your ingredients: Look for lip balms with beeswax, shea butter, vitamin E and emollient oils (think jojoba), all of which intensely hydrate and replenish lost moisture.
Another tip: stop licking. It may temporarily make your lips feel better, but saliva dries quickly, sucking moisture from the lips, which leads to greater chapping.
Using a humidifier at night could help relieve some dryness, too. The moisture chapstickfrom the humidifier restores the moisture your dry indoor heat has taken away.

Q: How can I get the most out of my lipstick.
A:Even if you’re down to the bottom of the tube, chances are you can still get a few more wears out of your favorite lipstick—here’s how: “Using a Q-tip helps you get every last bit out of your lipstick tube or gloss pot—and it’s more sanitary that using germy fingers,”
Q: I dropped my purse and shattered my blush. What can i do to fix it?
A:Drop your purse and shatter one of your favorite products? Worry not, ladies: If a shadow or pressed powder breaks…you can add a few drops of rubbing alcohol and press the pieces back together. The powder will reset in the product’s metal pan.

Q: I ran out of shaving cream and soap drys my skin out. What else can I use?
A:If a hair conditioner is doing a “meh” job on your hair, don’t toss it just yet. “If I ever have a hair conditioner that isn’t doing the job, I use it as a shaving cream,” Q: I have a hard time getting all the product out of their tubes.
A:Take a traditional paint tube wringer from any arts and crafts store to a pliable beauty product—like a hand cream tube or even a regular toothpaste tube—to squeeze every last drop out. Nothing is left behind with this little handy device.

Q: Soft, sparkly eyeshadows sometimes crumble in my makeup bag from all the back and forth to work
A: Just transfer them into a small plastic jar so that you can still use them, After all, those little eye-makeup beauties can be expensive!

Q: What can I do with little pieces of left over lipsticks. I hate to throw them out.
A:Turn that last bit of lipstick into a cream blush! Just smile, dab a small bit onto the balls of your cheekbones and blend upward toward the temples

Q: My favorite nail polish dried out. What can i do?
A:When it comes to rescuing your favorite shade of hardened-up or gloppy-feeling nail lacquer. Add a couple drops of nail polish thinner to restore its consistency.

Q: My makeup brush is coming apart. How can I save it?

A:When your makeup brush starts losing its bristles, take a pair of pliers to the metal part to get them secure and useful again.

Q: I live in Florida and my eye pencils are always to soft from the heat.
A:During the summer, keep your eyeliners in the fridge. It keeps them from getting too soft, so you won’t waste product through over sharpening.

Q: Any tips on what to do with old mascara?
A:I put old mascara wands in the dishwasher and use them to groom my brows or mist them with hairspray to gently groom away fuzzies at the hairline.

Dry Skin?

What causes dry skin?

There is no single cause of dry skin. Dry skin causes can be classified as external and internal. External factors are the most common underlying cause and are the easiest to address. External factors include cold temperatures and low humidity, especially during the winter when central heaters are used. Internal factors include overall health, age, genetics, family history, and a personal history of other medical conditions like atopic dermatitis. In particular those with certain thyroid diseases are more prone to developing dry skin.

External factors that cause dry skin include

  • over-washing with harsh soaps,
  • overuse of sanitizers and cleaning agents (alcohol),
  • cold temperature,
  • low humidity.

Although bathing and showering adds water to skin, it is the evaporation of this water after the completion of the immersion that results in dry skin. Skin that feels overly tight after bathing may indicate excess removal of natural skin oils.

One of the most common factors causing dry skin is frequent application of harsh soaps. The type of soap may have a large impact on dry skin. Soap is an emulsifier that removes oils on the skin. The more often skin is scrubbed with soap, the more oil is removed, ultimately resulting in dryer skin. Excessive use of soaps can worsen dry skin.

Moreover, dry skin may persist or worsen if using moisturizers improperly or choosing an inadequate moisturizer. Sometimes, the material of different clothing can also affect dry skin. Some materials such as wool or synthetic fibers tend to irritate the skin and worsen dry skin.

Simple changes can soothe dry skin

Following the same skin care routine year round may not work so well when the humidity drops. Without a change in your skin care, dry air can make fine lines and wrinkles more noticeable. Dry skin can itch, flake, crack, and even bleed.

To help heal dry skin and prevent its return, dermatologists recommend the following.

1. Prevent baths and showers from making dry skin worse. When your skin is dry, be sure to:

  • Close the bathroom door
  • Limit your time in the shower or bath to 5 or 10 minutes
  • Use warm rather than hot water
  • Wash with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser
  • Apply enough cleanser to remove dirt and oil, but avoid using so much that you see a thick lather
  • Blot your skin gently dry with a towel
  • Slather on the moisturizer immediately after drying your skin

2. Apply moisturizer immediately after washing. Ointments, creams, and lotions (moisturizers) work by trapping existing moisture in your skin. To trap this much-needed moisture, you need to apply a moisturizer within few minutes of:

  • Drying off after a shower or bath
  • Washing your face or hands

3. Use an ointment or cream rather than a lotion. Ointments and creams are more effective and less irritating than lotions. Look for a cream or ointment that contains an oil such as olive oil or jojoba oil. Shea butter also works well. Other ingredients that help to soothe dry skin include lactic acid, urea, hyaluronic acid, dimethicone, glycerin, lanolin, mineral oil, and petrolatum.

Tip:  Carry a non-greasy hand cream with you, and apply it after each hand washing. This will greatly help relieve dry skin.

4. Wear lip balm. Choose a lip balm that feels good on your lips. Some healing lip balms can irritate your lips. If your lips sting or tingle after you apply the lip balm, switch to one that does not cause this reaction.

5. Use only gentle, unscented skin care products. Some skin care products are too harsh for dry, sensitive skin. When your skin is dry, stop using:

  • Deodorant soaps
  • Skin care products that contain alcohol, fragrance, retinoids, or alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA)

Avoiding these products will help your skin retain its natural oils.

6. Wear gloves. Our hands are often the first place we notice dry skin. You can reduce dry, raw skin by wearing gloves. Be sure to put gloves on before you:

  • Go outdoors in winter
  • Perform tasks that require you to get your hands wet
  • Get chemicals, greases, and other substances on your hands

7. Choose non-irritating clothes and laundry detergent. When our skin is dry and raw even clothes and laundry detergent can be irritating. To avoid this:

  • Wear cotton or silk under your clothing made of wool or another material that feels rough
  • Use laundry detergent labeled “hypoallergenic”

8. Stay warm without cozying up to a fireplace or other heat source. Sitting in front of an open flame or other heat source can dry your skin.

9. Add moisture to the air. Plug in a humidifier. If you can check your home heating system, find out if you have a humidifier on the system — and whether it’s working.

5 Ways To Streamline Your Bedtime Routine—And Boost Morning Productivity

5 Ways To Streamline Your Bedtime Routine—And Boost Morning Productivity
youravon.com/shirliejones

The secret to a productive day? Prepping for it the night before. From jotting down to-do lists to reflecting on the day’s accomplishments, having a pointed p.m. routine allows you to decompress, and ultimately sets you up for success.

Here’s how to hit the hay the right way—and wake up ready to tackle tomorrow.

1. Create a calm space.
Cancelling out noise and making your surroundings as peaceful as possible is important when you’re settling in for the night. Blogger and beauty expert Jeanette Zinno uses scents to create a tranquil environment. “I believe in the benefits of aromatherapy for calming, and use my diffuser with lavender oil before bed every night,” she says. “I also like to stretch on my yoga mat and drink tea to unwind.”

2. Grab a pen and notepad.
Some say a to-do list is crucial to maximize efficiency: “I’m a huge list-maker! Before bed I usually review my calendar for the next day to see what I have to prep for,” says Zinno. And for all of those great ideas that fall by the wayside as sleep takes over, Alyssa Hertzig, blogger and founder of the lifestyle blog, The Sparkly Life, has a solution: “I keep a pad of paper next to my bed so I can jot down any ideas that come to me as I’m falling asleep. Sometimes it takes a little bit of work to decipher those written-in-the-dark notes, but I can usually figure them out,” she explains.

3. Indulge in a skin-pampering ritual.
Treating yourself to a soothing skin treatment can serve as a great stress reliever. “I believe that beauty and wellness are important from the inside out,” says Zinno. “I use sheet masks a few times a week to keep my skin hydrated.” Copy her habit: Anew Clinical Overnight Hydration Mask replenishes lost moisture while you snooze.

4. Reflect on your day.
Taking time to ponder highs and lows helps identify the areas where you’ve been challenged, and assesses where you’re excelling. According to recent research, inward attention is an important contributor to overall thinking, reasoning and well-being.

5. Maximize shut-eye.
Don’t snooze on the importance of quality slumber: Studies show that it’s crucial to boost brainpower and memory. Aim for seven to nine hours a night, per recommendations from The National Sleep Foundation. Even more reason to make it an early night: Janet K. Kennedy, Ph.D., clinical psychologist, founder of NYC Sleep Doctor, and author of The Good Sleeper: The Essential Guide to Sleep for Your Baby (and You), tells us, “The information that you take in during the day is consolidated into memory during sleep. Fatigue impairs concentration and makes it harder to learn new information.”
